Story 06 ~ Darkness

Lore was wandering through the mountains late at night. Normally he would be sleeping at such a late hour, but was unable to as of late. For the past few weeks he had been having bad dreams that would wake him in the middle of the night. Lore couldn't remember what the dream was about, but the feeling he had afterwards would leave him not wanting to go back to sleep. So Lore continued on with his travels, deciding not to worry about sleeping since he didn't really need it.

Using the stars as a guide, Lore headed south so he wondered something. Whatever happened to the moon? When he first awoke and left Gero's lab, he had thought nothing of it. But after about month, Lore finally noticed the moon was definitely absent from the night sky. Seeing as how there were very few historical documents could leave the northern mountain range. But as he wandered around at night, Lore always left and Lore thought that it might be a little embarrassing to have to ask someone, the subject remained a mystery. Still, it kept him always staring up into the sky and wondering.

But this night, as he stared towards the heavens. Lore failed to notice the cracked earth ahead of him. When Lore stepped onto the weakened area of ground, it collapsed under his weight. So surprised by the sudden drop, Lore forgot about his ability to fly and fell into the dark depths.

"Jigoku ni otosa!" Lore screamed, but the rest of his cursing was smothered by the sound of falling rock and a sudden splash.

Instead of hitting solid ground, Lore fell into some kind of underground river. It was flowing extremely fast, dragging Lore along and tumbling him end over end. All the tumbling was causing Lore to become extremely disoriented, compounded when he hit the cavern ceiling trying to fly. He was then drawn into a whirlpool, completely submerging him and taking Lore deeper underground.

~~~~~
When he came to his senses, Lore found himself laying halfway on a rocky ledge. Lore pulled himself completely up on to the ledge and stood up, amazed that he still had his pack after what happened. Lore took a look around. Unfortunately, he could see nothing, everything was completely black. Lore tried light-amp but there was no light to amplify. He then attempted to use his infrared sensors but the only thing giving off any heat was Lore himself.
"Well, looks like I'm going to have to do it the old fashioned way." Lore thought aloud, as he set his pack down and opened it up.
"It's a good thing I keep everything in sealed containers," Lore told himself. "Most everything anyway." He added, ringing out his bedroll.
Lore finally found his flashlight, after closing up the pack and slinging it back over his shoulders, he flipped on the power. Shining the light around, Lore got a good look at the cavern he was standing in. One side was covered in water, with more being brought in by a waterfall.
"Guess that's how I got in here. But is there any other way out?" Lore wondered
Shining his flashlight around the rest of the cave Lore finally spotted a small tunnel across from him. Seeing it as his only way out, he took it.
~~~~~

After what seemed like hours, Lore finally came to the end of the tunnel. But instead of it leading outside like he had hoped, it opened up into a cavern that appeared even larger than the last one.

Shining his flashlight and looking around, Lore spotted what appeared to be a building. Running over to it to check it out, he saw another one and then another. Looking all around he saw even more buildings, but they all seemed to be in ruins.

"Does everything I find have to be in this condition?" Lore lamented

Looking down Lore saw that he was actually standing on some kind of street. After spotting even more buildings, Lore realized that he must be in some kind of city, a very old one at that.

"Incredible, an entire ancient city! This has to be the most important find in archeological history! Well if there are any archeologists left anyway." Lore told himself, laughing. "But who is going to believe me if I tell them about this? I'd probably be laughed out of whatever town I happened to be in. Hmmm... I know what I could do!"

Digging through his pack, Lore found his camera and started taking pictures. He wandered through the streets, snapping pictures of what ever caught his interest. Lore went through different buildings that were more or less intact, but he found nothing salvageable. Like out in the streets, everything inside was broken. One thing that Lore didn't find were any signs of the people that used to live in the city. He didn't even find any remains, not that it bothered him, he found enough of those in the modern ruins.

Lore noted the different types of buildings that he was going through, most on the outer edge of the city seemed to be residential in make. As he went deeper into the ruins, Lore started seeing different structures. Things like arches, fountains and even what appeared to be a market place. Checking out more buildings, Lore found what he guessed were shops and warehouses, he even found the remains of a bath house.

In the center of the city, Lore saw what he guessed was a temple or possibly an administration building. Something was telling him not to enter the place, but Lore's curiosity got the better of him and he went in.

~~~~~
Inside the large building, Lore found that both his guesses seemed to be right. There were several rooms with shelves with the remains of what appeared to be books, Lore guessed the rooms were where used for record keeping. Other rooms appeared to be for religious use, seeing as there were strange symbols on the walls and the remnants of other items that may have been used for ceremonies.
After checking out all the smaller rooms, Lore went back to a set of huge double doors that he had seen when he had entered the place. Pushing the massive doors open, Lore walked in. As soon as he was a few steps inside, there was a bright flash and light filled the room. Lore nearly dropped his flashlight and camera, but caught them at the last second and dropped into a defensive stance. When nothing attacked, Lore stood up and looked around. The light was emanating from glass orbs that were hanging from the ceiling, the room itself was a massive circular chamber with what appeared to be murals on the walls. After scanning around the room, the only thing he was able to tell was that the lights contained an unknown type of energy. The room itself contained nothing.
"Whoa, what is this place?" Lore wondered aloud as walked further into the room. He put his flashlight back in his pack, since there was no longer any use for it.
After looking at the pictures for a few minutes, Lore realized that they were telling some sort of story. After he found what appeared to be the start story, he decided to try and figure out what the murals told.
"Let's see, it looks like it tells the history of this place. There's the construction of the city and it looks like a time of peace and prosperity. Hmmm.. goes on like that for a while, more peace and prosperity, yadda yadda yadda." As he went along, Lore took a picture of each part of the mural.
"Ah, now it gets more interesting, it appears that a war started. Looks like they fought with swords and such. It even looks like they used sorcery and had magical creatures on their side, whoa! Still, it looks like the war went on for a long time and many died, then a hero appeared. He led the people and defeated their enemies, then helped to rebuild this place. Afterwards they made him king and he led the people into a golden age." Lore walked on, continuing to take pictures. The story did seem a little familiar to him though, he was sure he had read something similar in school.
"Hmm.. Even though the king had led the people into a golden age, that wasn't enough. He wanted to insure that his people were protected and kept happy, even after he was gone. He began to experiment with magic to find a way to realize his dream. He decided that he would summon a great guardian to protect the city." Lore continued on, making metal notes of the story.
"The king's early experiments went well, he was able to summon minor creatures with ease. After countless successful experiments, the king decided he was ready. He called the people of the city together, they would have a mass ceremony to summon and then welcome their new protector. Everything was going well but in the middle of the summoning, something went very wrong. The great portal that was supposed to bring their benevolent guardian, suddenly changed. A great being of darkness emerged and tried to engulf all who were at the ceremony. The king tried to force it back through the portal, but the evil being proved too strong. It was able to close the portal before it could be forced back to were it came and left the city. The king knew it wasn't over and he was right, soon the evil raised an army and sent it against the city." Lore then took a break from the story and pulled something out of his pack to eat. He was positive he heard this story before in school, he just couldn't remember the name of it. When he finished his food he continued on with the story.
"The battles with the evil's army were far worse than any that had been fought in the previous war. The evils minions had the ability to transform themselves into horrible monsters. Hmmm.. now that sounds familiar. I wonder if... naw it couldn't have any connection with that gang, it has to be a coincidence. Still, it does get me to wondering about it. Anyway, on with the story. As the war continued many people were killed, including most of the civilian populace. The king decided that he had enough, he formed a plan to banish the evil to where it couldn't harm anyone. Secretly, in a secluded part of the mountains, the king constructed a stone gateway capable of opening portals to other dimensions. Using the evil's arrogance against it, the king lured it to the gate and fought it in a one-on-one battle. Sacrificing his very life force, the king activated the gate, sending the evil to a dimensional prison and sealing it away. Without leadership, the evil's army was easily defeated, but it was too late. The city was all but destroyed and without the king's guidance, the survivors began to leave their ruined home." The final picture of the mural was unfinished but Lore took it's picture anyway. His camera buzzed, signaling it was out of film. Lore sighed and put it in it's proper container and back into his pack.
"I guess something must have happened when this part was being painted. Maybe it was an earthquake or something like that, possibly what dropped this whole city underground."
Lore looked around the room again, he noticed a small door that he had overlooked when he was checking out the mural. Lore walked over and opened it up, inside was a stairway that curved down out of sight. What he could see was lighted in the same way as the mural room. Looking down the stairway, Lore got the same feeling as when he first entered the building. It was nearly pleading with him not to go down, but Lore's curiosity won out again and he decided to check it out.
~~~~~

At the bottom of the long winding stairway, Lore found another room. While it was nowhere as big as the mural room, it was still very large. There were three metal statues standing in the middle of the room. They were all humanoid in appearance, but the way in which they were shaped gave them rather bulbous forms. On the far side of the room was a raised platform with some sort of pedestal in the middle. Lore leapt up onto the platform to check it out, a round object was floating above the pedestal. The object was about the size of a volleyball and seemed to be made out of some type of opaque crystal, it was also floating without any apparent means of support. Lore reached out to try to touch the crystal. Right before he made contact, there was rumbling and two objects shot from the ceiling and the pedestal, encasing the crystal completely. Then some sort of energy shield emanated from the protective case and pushed Lore off the platform.

"What the heck was that?! I didn't even do anything yet! Nani?!" Lore heard a sound behind him, so he dove to the side.

Looking back to where he used to be standing, Lore saw something embedded in the side of the platform that was connected to some sort of chain. The object and chain then retracted back to where they had come. Lore was surprised to see that it was one of the statues that had tried to strike him and the chained object was it's arm. The statue that had attacked, stepped off it's small platform and began to charge at Lore, as did the other two.

Lore fired energy blasts at his attackers, but the beams ricocheted off the statues bodies. They began to circle around him, trying to punch Lore at random intervals. The blows were easily dodged but when Lore would try to strike, the statues would simply slap away his attacks. Suddenly, one of the statues charged Lore from behind, he barely jumped it and kicked the statue in the back as it went under him. The blow caused the statue to stumble out of control, it ran into the far wall and it fell to the ground unmoving. The other two charged from both sides at once, Lore ducked to avoid them. When the pair backed up to try and strike him, Lore delivered a mule kick to one of them, sending it flying into another wall. Unfortunately for Lore, the move left him open to attack. The remaining statue took full advantage of the situation. Hammering it's fists down on Lore again and again, the statue drove him to his knees. Finally, Lore was able to catch the fists that were pummeling him and stood back up. The statue reared back preparing to headbutt Lore, but he let go of it's arms and jumped back as it brought it's head down. Before the thing could straiten back up, Lore extended one of his energy blades and struck the statue in the head. Lore retracted his sword and punched his opponent with his free hand, sending the statue flying across the room.

"What the hell were those things? By what I could scan of them, their insides looked like clockwork. "

Lore then notice that the one he had caused to stumble into the far wall was getting back up. With a growl of anger, he began to build up an energy blast in both hands. Without warning, something wrapped around Lore's arms, causing him to misfire. Looking to see what it was, Lore saw that the statues he had just put down had extended their arms to grab him. Despite the fact that one was missing it's head. The way that the arms had grabbed him prevented him from being able to cut them with his blades or to strike them with energy blasts. It took just about all Lore's concentration just to keep his arms from being ripped out of their sockets. The statue that had stumbled before, stood up. It's chest opened, revealing several whirling blades.

"So you think your going to shred me up do you? Well, I'm not out of tricks just yet!"

Lore started building up his energy, letting the statue with the blades get closer. When it was right in front of him, Lore opened his mouth and fired an energy beam into the statue's chest. The statue's blades were shattered and it was thrown into the air, landing on the far side of the room in a smoking heap. With a scream of rage, Lore pulled against to other two statues. He yanked them up into the air and they collided above him, breaking into pieces. A rain of broken metal and gears came down where Lore was standing. He began to breath a sigh of relief, then noticed the remaining statue trying to get up again. Lore leapt up and landed on it, he wouldn't stop jumping and stomping until he was sure the statue was no longer functional.

"These things just don't know when to quit do they?" Lore asked no one in particular.

As he was checking out what was left of the statues, Lore noticed a small glowing orb descend from the ceiling.

"What you going to do, glow at me?" Lore said laughing.

But Lore's laughter was cut short as the orb shot out a beam of light, striking him in the face and causing Lore to black out.

~~~~~
Lore awoke feeling very disoriented, he was standing in a vast empty space. The only features were the gray clouds in the sky and a thick mist swirling around his feet. The clouds were moving extremely fast, except Lore felt no wind at all in this place. As he stood there, Lore had the feeling that he had seen this place before. Despite the feeling, Lore didn't see much that he could do so he started walking.
After walking for some distance, Lore heard something. Looking around, he didn't see what had made the noise. The noise came again and Lore began to run towards it, the noise kept getting louder and louder as he ran. Finally, Lore could identify the noise, it was a voice but he couldn't make out what it was saying. Lore stood there trying to focus on what the voice was saying, then something happened.
"Why did you leave us Lore?"
Lore spun around to face the voice and came face to face with his family, looking just the same as when he left home that fateful day. He wanted to run over to them but his body wouldn't move.
"Why did you leave us Lore?" His mother repeated.
"Yeah, you can't even imagine what your disappearance put us through" Ryoko added.
"I didn't what to leave." Lore told them. "Gero, he had me brought to his lab and he.."
"Now Lore, there's no need to make up stories." His father said. "It's okay to tell us what really happened."
"I am telling the truth. Gero he changed me into.."
"Why did you break your promise Oniisan?" Urika asked Lore. "You promised that you'd be back in time to watch my favorite show with me."
"I know I did Urika, I know. I was trying to get home in time but there was the storm, then there was the wreck." Lore answered with tears in his eyes.
Lore finally was able to move his body again, but as soon as he began to walk towards his family, they disappeared. He ran in to where they used to be standing, calling out for them to come back but it was too late, they were gone. After sitting there for awhile, Lore got up and continued walking. A short time later, he heard another voice.
"Why do you keep running away Lore?" It was present day Urika this time. She suddenly appeared in front of him, staring towards the horizon "You never stay in one place. Even when you found out I was still alive, you didn't stay. You just left again, like you always do nowadays. Are you afraid to rejoin humanity?"
"That's not why I didn't stay when I found you. I didn't what to mess up the life that you have now. You have a normal life and seem happy. If I just showed up all of a sudden, it might throw everything into chaos and I don't want that to happen. And I never stay in one place for long because it's better for everybody that way. What would people do if they found out what I really was? There would probably be mass panic and then those warriors I've heard about might come and destroy me."
Urika then turned towards Lore and smiled "What makes you think that Oniisan? You've heard of the other Jinzouningen that reappeared and gave up her old ways. She was one of the former destroyers of the world, but people have given her second chance. Why do you think people would be out to destroy you if you've done nothing wrong? You may be a Jinzouningen now but you go around helping people, not trying to destroy them. You shouldn't worry about what you are so much, just try to live your life to the fullest."
Urika disappeared, leaving Lore alone again. He didn't know what to think, he wanted to follow her advice but he had doubts about if he should actually do it or not. As he stood there, a feeling or dread suddenly washed over Lore and he heard someone chuckling behind him. Spinning around, Lore saw the last person he ever wanted to see.
"Gero!" Lore growled in anger.
"Why do you even listen to mere humans?" Gero asked. "When you are their superior in every way. It doesn't matter what they say, they are all fools. Those who don't bow down to us will be destroyed."
"Chikushome, yurusanai!" Lore screamed, running at Gero. Right before Lore reached Gero, the ground seemed to give out under him. As he fell through the mist, all Lore could hear was Gero's laughter.
Lore didn't fall for long, the mist suddenly disappeared and he slammed down onto concrete with a grunt. Standing up and dusting himself off, he took a look around. Lore was now in the ruins of a city. Standing in the middle of a of street that was covered in debris. But something was different about these ruins, there were fires burning all around, smoke and dust filled the air. Then Lore realized that these were not ruins that had been sitting around for years like what he normally found, this city had just be attacked.
Lore began to run through the streets, looking and scanning for anyone who might be able to tell him what had happened. He was unable to find anyone, silence was the only answer to his calls. There was also the smell of something burning, Lore didn't know what smell was but he did not like it at all. Soon Lore arrived at what appeared to be the town square, a large fire was burning in the center. Looking around, Lore noticed that various pieces of rubble seemed to be arranged in some sort of pattern around the fire. Suddenly, someone spoke.
"The colors are a bit drab, but still, it's not a bad piece of work. Don't you agree?"
"Who's there?!" Lore demanded.
"I forgot to introduce myself, how rude of me." The voice answered.
Lore then saw someone descend from above and land in front of him. The individual was wearing boots, black jeans, and a blue tank top. He had wild looking dark green hair and was wearing a bandana with the red ribbon symbol on it. Lore stared in disbelief at the young man's face, it was like he was looking into a mirror.
"I am Juuni-gou." The young man answered with a smirk. Lore didn't know what to say, Juuni-gou was his designation, not this guy's.
"Why..?" Lore tried speak.
"Why have I done this?" That wasn't quite what Lore's question was going to be, but he did want to know why the city was destroyed. "Simple, it's all part of my mission. I was created by Gero to kill Son Gokou. Instead of wasting my time looking for him, I'll draw him to me. Gokou is the hero type, so when he hears of this city being destroyed, he'll come running. Then I'll destroy him and anybody else who gets in the way, human lives are of no consequence. Hey now, there's an idea. After I kill Gokou, I'll just continue on with the rest of the humans. Such inferior creatures don't even deserve to exist, I'll simply have to destroy all of them. I'll be doing the world a favor, the planet will be serene and pure after all the humans are gone. It shall be my greatest work ever!"
Lore was tired of Juuni-gou's ranting. "I won't let you!" Lore screamed running at him.
Lore threw a punch at Juuni-gou, which was easily dodged. But Lore grabbed Juuni-gou's arm and prepared to throw him. Just as Lore was about to send him through a wall, Juuni-gou reversed the throw and tossed Lore into a building.
"What a joke!" Juuni-gou laughed as Lore pulled himself from the rubble. "Just what did you hope to accomplish by doing that? Whatever powers that you think you have, you can not win."
Lore didn't answer, he simply charged again. Lore pressed the attack forcing Juuni-gou to block his blows or step back. Finally Lore landed a punched to Juuni-gou's face, Juuni-gou retaliated with a right hook. They both swung again but missed, then locked hands trying to overpower each other. Lore broke the lockup by kneeing Juuni-gou in the gut, causing him to double over. But before Lore could attack again, Juuni-gou elbowed him in the chest. Juuni-gou then kicked Lore sending him flying into a wall, Juuni-gou laughed and charged. Lore ducked and slid under Juuni-gou before he got his face smashed in by his opponent's fist. Juuni-gou quickly spun around and grabbed Lore by the ankle and slammed him back into the wall. Then tossed him back into the town square, causing Lore to skid along the ground.
"You're so weak." Juuni-gou said in a mocking tone. "I hope Gokou is stronger than you are, I might actually get a challenge then."
Juuni-gou then fired an energy blast at Lore, who avoided it by taking to the air. Lore fired four energy blasts of his own down at Juuni-gou, who simply slapped them out of the way as he flew up at Lore. Lore then fired a large energy beam using both hands, Juuni-gou disappeared right before the beam hit him. The beam stuck down in the middle of the town square, causing a large explosion.
"Now look what you've done." Came a voice from behind Lore. "You ruined my artwork."
Lore turned around, but it was too late. Juuni-gou axehandled him, sending Lore crashing into another building. Juuni-gou smiled as he heard Lore smash through several floors, he then landed on the ground and began to walk away.
"That wasn't even a challenge for me." Juuni-gou said to himself, sounding almost sad "I hope Gokou gets here soon so I can have a real fight"
Suddenly, there was the sound of shattering concrete. Juuni-gou heard a scream of pure rage, turning, he saw Lore charging at him. Before Juuni-gou could react, Lore punched him in the chest. As soon as his fist made contact, Lore extended his energy blade, running Juuni-gou through. Lore stepped back, pulling out his laser sword. The expression on Juuni-gou's face went blank, there was a spray of blood and mechanical fluid as he fell to the ground.
Then everything, Juuni-gou and the surroundings, shattered like glass and Lore was back in the empty space. Lore saw two figures in the distance, he ran to them to see who they were. When he got close to the pair, their backs were to him. They turned around and Lore got a look at their faces. It was a girl and a guy, twins by the looks of them. Lore was sure he had seen the girl before, in fact, he had seen both of them before in pictures and old newscasts.
"Juunana-gou? Juuhachi-gou?" Lore said, bewildered.
"Of course Juuni-gou. Who did you think it was?" Juunana-gou answered with a smirk.
"We've been waiting for you." Juuhachi-gou told him. "It is time you joined us big brother."
"Big brother?" Lore repeated, more confused than ever.
"Of course." Juuhachi-gou replied. "We're Jinzouningen created by Gero, so that makes us all family."
"Yeah, so let's all go out and do some family bonding by destroying what's left of the humans." Juunana-gou added.
Lore was about to say something when a voice from behind interrupted him. "Yes Juuni-gou, we are all family now." Lore spun around to see who was talking. It was Gero, except that he was gigantic.
"It's time that you accepted who and what you are." Gero said kneeling down and picking up Lore. Try as he may, Lore couldn't break out of Gero's grip. "I order you to let go of the humanity that you so desperately try to cling to. You life belongs to me now and you will obey!"
"I will never obey you Gero!" Lore growled in anger. "Never, do you hear me! NEVER!"
Then there was a sudden flash and everything went white.
~~~~~

The control orb had preformed it's assigned task. When it's physical extensions failed to stop the intruder, it used it's spectra-beam to immobilize him and plunged the intruder into a dream state. The orb had signaled for guards to come and take the intruder away, but no one came. The control orb suddenly detected energy building from within the intruder. But before it could raise it's defensive field, an immense amount of energy emanated from the intruder. The control orb was disintegrated along with everything else in the area.

Fortunately, there was not another living being within miles. Had there been, they would have seen a mountain disappear in a bright flash of light. A huge dome of energy appeared in it's place but disappeared as quickly as it came, plunging the area back into darkness.

~~~~~
Lore was awakened by the feel of warm sunlight shining down upon him. Sitting up he looked down at himself, he saw that he was unscathed by what had happened.
"It was a dream." Lore thought aloud. Then he looked around noticing he was at the bottom of a large crater. "Good going Lore, you just wiped out what was possibly the greatest archeological find in history." He told himself sarcastically.
Checking to make sure he had everything, he tightened his pack straps and stood up. A sharp headache was his body's answer to the movement.
"Note to self: Before you laugh at something, make sure you know what it is and what it can do first." Lore told himself with a groan while holding his head.
Lore began to walk but then noticed something near him on the ground, it was the crystal from before. It seemed that the protective case was able to prevent the crystal from being harmed by the blast. Picking it up, Lore noticed it was a lot lighter than it looked and it was warm to the touch. Holding the crystal up in the sun, Lore found that he still couldn't see through it. He began to roll it around in his hands, thinking what he could do with it. It just wouldn't be right to sell the crystal, since it was all that was left of the ancient city. He just couldn't leave it there, where anybody could walk up and find it. Still, Lore thought carrying such a large crystal around may be a little too conspicuous.
While Lore was thinking, the crystal began to glow. It became extremely bright and Lore turned his head away, then there was a sound like shattering glass. Looking back, Lore saw that he was holding a different object now. It appeared to be a blue fuzz ball, about half the size the crystal had been.
"I was put through all that and the only thing I get is a koosh ball?" Lore voiced his thoughts, having no idea what this change meant. Suddenly two eyes appeared on the fuzz ball. "Nani?!"
"Hi!" The fuzz ball said happily. "I'm Trundra, but you can call me Trun. What's your name?"
"I'm Lore." Lore answered, too shocked to say anything else.
"Hi Lore, nice to meet you." Trun said then bounced up to Lore shoulder and began sniffing. "I smell metal, but it doesn't look like your wearing any armor. What are you? Are you a warrior?"
"No, actually I'm a freelance salvager." Lore replied, still not sure what to make of the little creature bouncing on his shoulder.
"I don't know what that is, but it sounds like fun. Can I come with you?" Trun asked, bouncing up and landing on Lore's head.
Lore thought about it, he just couldn't leave Trun there. Who knows what could happen to him, something might try and eat such a little thing. "Sure, why not." Lore finally answered.
"Yay!" Trun cheered, and began to bounce excitedly.
Lore started walking out of the crater, Trun bouncing from shoulder to shoulder. Trun began asking Lore all sorts of questions, Lore sighed and answered them to the best of his ability.
~~~~~

Lore loaded up the last of the crates onto his truck, afterwards he tightly secured them so they wouldn't have a chance of falling off. Lore was still amazed that he had found a warehouse that was completely untouched, inside he had found several crates of canned goods and a few crates of medical supplies. The thing is, Lore was going to have to blast away a lot of debris so he could drive his truck out of area. After he was finished, Lore jumped into the driver's seat of the truck and pulled out his map.

"Where are we going now Lore?" Trun asked, bouncing around the inside of the truck's cab. "Where are we going? Huh, huh, huh?"

Lore found the little fuzz ball to be a little annoying at times, but it was nice to have someone to talk to as he traveled from place to place. At first Lore thought it might be difficult to explain where Trun had come from, but people never really asked. In fact, most people really liked him and accepted Lore's answer of just finding Trun during his travels.

"Well, it looks like the closest major population center is New Hope City. Actually that's kind of good, I've been wanting to visit the new capital. Capsule Corp is also there, so maybe I'll hand in all these capsules I've found that I never use." Lore said, as he put his map away. "Ready to go Trun?"

"Yeah!" Trun answered cheerfully, then bounced up and landed on Lore's shoulder.

Lore started up the truck and began to drive, eager to get to their destination.
