Godzilla Lives!
A Godzilla fanfiction by Travis J. DeSantis
Chapter Fifteen
Back at G-Force HQ, Miki's shuddered and clutched her chest. She suddenly felt a grand surge of emotion deep inside, an emotion that made her heart soar and plunge at the same time. What was this indescribable sensation? There was certainly nothing going on at the meeting to get excited about.
No news had come from the front line since the messenger left fifteen minutes ago. The council was intermittently still and active. Conversation was sporadic and periods of intense debate were mixed with moments of dead silence. In his chair, Major Kuroki looked supremely upset. The Super-X2 was still grounded, he was useless.
Again with that feeling and now Miki smelled something. There was no single odor she could pin down, but it definitely wasn't coming from within the council chamber. It smelled like the sea and at the same time, like fresh fish. But it also smelled like something was burning. Fire? Smoke? And something else as well. Blood.
Finally, something clicked in the psychic's mind and it all fell into place.
"Oh...oh my god..."

Ogakor swam past one of the submarines and grazed it with his bone blades, slicing open one side. The sub's bow caved in under the pressure and the Ichigou was dead in the water. Just as the mutant crocodile turned to deal with the other sub, a series of depth charges dropped from the cruisers got lucky. More explosions went off underwater and Ogakor shrieked in response, his attention now turned back to the surface.
But this was an ill-timed distraction for the reptile, because the real threat was now closing in. Not the Nigou, the other SSN-class Submarine. Only one creature on Earth was a threat to Ogakor.
Godzilla's attack was swift and staggering. He had dived down, then shot straight up in the water like a hunting shark. Over 25,000 tons of radioactive dinosaur crashed into Ogakor at approximately 40 knots. The collision had such force that it propelled them both out of the water. The crew of the Hyogo could only watch in stunned horror as the two colossal monsters emerged from the sea, rose up, then crashed back down onto the Battleship. The recommissioned Yamato-class buckled in the middle, folding up like a pair of scissors, then exploded in great clouds of oily black smoke and crimson fire. As the titanic pair sank back down, the resulting waves tossed smaller ships out of the water and tidal waves crashed over the two larger ones, washing many unfortunate sailors into the unforgiving sea.
Ogakor was stunned by the blow and at first, he did not react to the talons that closed around his muscular neck. But instinct soon kicked in and the giant crocodile thrashed about, trying to throw off the other kaiju. Unnaturally long talons on the reptile's feet raked Godzilla's sides and Ogakor's enormous jaws slammed bluntly into the dinosaur's head.
The croc eventually squirmed his way out of Godzilla's grasp and swam away, then circled around and rushed the other giant. Though Godzilla was fast, Ogakor was faster, and the dinosaur wasn't nearly as maneuverable. As such, he couldn't dodge as the croc streaked by in a green blur and bone blades tore open his left shoulder. Godzilla growled furiously and when Ogakor circled back around for another pass, he tried to reach out and grab the faster mutant. The black giant's efforts were rewarded with many deep gashes on his arms and chest.
Godzilla hung in the water for a moment, allowing his regenerative powers to heal the wounds. He watched the intruder as it swam up to the surface for breath, then circled back around once more. Being amphibious, the black giant would have no such troubles; he could do this all day. The dinosaur spread his arms wide, as if to taunt Ogakor to try that move again.
But before either monster could act, the Nigou took the opportunity to launch more torpedoes; two Mark 48s lancing through the water, one for each kaiju. The giant crocodile would not be fooled twice and instead of merely dodging, its tail whipped around and sliced the weapon cleanly in half. But the torpedo headed for Godzilla made a direct hit, exploding under the water with a dull roar.
Ogakor made to attack the submarine in retaliation, but his monstrous opponent was not out of the picture. The MK-48 was nothing to Godzilla and was barely worth a moment's notice. He swam up behind the croc and grabbed its tail like he intended to the first time, hauling him back away from the sub.
Strong clawed fists now beat on the reptile's armored back, causing the boney plates to crack bit by bit. Ogakor cried out shrilly and twisted around to face his attacker. The croc's powerful jaws clamped down on Godzilla's injured left shoulder, serrated fangs digging into scales and flesh. Ogakor shook violently, nearly ripping the black giant's arm out of it's socket.
Godzilla desperately battered the other monster with fists and feet, but he could not break his opponent's hold. His claws found Ogakor's face and the mutant dinosaur gouged out an eye, creating another cloud of the croc's blood. But even this did not dissuade it to release him. In fact, the intruder's jaws seemed to bite down even harder and Godzilla winced as several fangs scraped bone. The black giant cried out in torment, his rumbling shriek issuing from fang-lined jaws in a stream of bubbles.
