Insect's Dance
A DaiKaiju High School fanfiction by Travis J. DeSantis

DaiKaiju High School is indeed a strange place.  Roughly a third of the student body are daikaiju anthropomorphs: people born with the features and powers of Japan's legendary giant monsters.  Whereas this would seem peculiar or even frightening to the average person, it is merely a fact of life in Neo-Tokyo.  These daikaiju aren't ostracized for their differences, but among themselves, they have their own share of outcasts.

Megan is just such an outcast.  As far as kaiju go, she's not so strange.  Megan is an arthropod-type with insect scales, twitchy antennae, and a hard shell covering her gossamer wings.  Metal armor and spikes cover her hands and forearms, and her fingers can link together to create a dangerous drill weapon, but she would rather avoid situations that require their use.  Megan's skin is chocolate brown in color with a line of orange scales down her front and she has short blue hair in conservative nerd style.  She also has golden yellow eyes, but it's hard to see behind her overly-large Coke bottle glasses of the same color.

What sets Megan apart from the crowd is her personality.  The archetypal teacher's pet, she always aces every test and finishes her assignments the fastest.  Megan is the kind of person that asks if there'll be any homework over the weekend.  Her head would be constantly sore from noogies if not for the formidable metal horn protruding from her skull that warded off the less daring bullies.  All through childhood and into her teenage life, Megan spent nearly every waking moment with her face buried in a book.  Reading being her greatest love, for her it was an escape from the cold, friendless void of her social life.

Now a senior at DaiKaiju High, not much has changed. Megan mostly just goes about her business, neither seeking nor avoiding her peers.  Today was no different and Megan was walking the halls with her nose between the pages of an entomology book, her favorite subject.  She was reading a particularly thrilling passage about the mating habits of wasps when she turned a corner and found herself amidst the Mantis Sisters.

Sammy, Kammy, and Tammy were their names; their parents obviously weren't the most imaginative of people.  The three sisters were DaiKaiju High's resident Mod Squad, always on the cutting edge of fashion.  Calling them bubble-headed would be an insult and Megan didn't like confrontations.  So whenever someone asked why she didn't hang out with the other insect kaiju, Megan would reply that she doesn't enjoy the 'group dynamic'.  Sammy, Kammy, and Tammy were always together, perhaps because they distrusted non-arthropod kaiju and felt there was safety in numbers.  But for whatever reason, the trio's constant giggling annoyed Megan to no end.

"Megan!  Megan!  Megan!" the triplets cheered.  They crowded around her, waving various papers and peering at her expectantly with their big aquamarine eyes.  "Help us with our homework?"

"Um, I really, uh, can't.  I have to, ah..." Megan glanced around, but there was no escape from them.  Sammy--or was it Tammy?--was clinging to her arm and Megan was suddenly aware of the mantis-girl's breasts on her arm, barely contained by a tube top.  The memory of what she was reading came flying back and Megan tried to suppress a blush.

"Please please please!" Tammy, er, Kammy--aw hell--the orange one begged.  This one was wearing an even more revealing outfit that pushed up her cleavage.  DaiKaiju High's uniform for girls was the classic Japanese sailor fuku, but the dress code obviously wasn't enforced very strictly.

"Yeah, please!" the green one repeated.

The silver one proceeded to shoved her homework in Megan's face.  "We don't get this stuff."

"You don't understand algebra?" Megan asked.  They all nodded at once and peered up at her with puppy dog eyes.

"If she's gonna do anyone's homework, it's gonna be mine!" came a shout from down the hall.  Giganna came sprinting towards them, waving her arms.

"KYAAAAH!" the sisters cried, fleeing in the opposite direction.

Giganna came to a stop next to Megan, satisfied at merely driving them off.

"Sorry I'm late," she said, not sounding very sorry.  "Had to go buy a pack of cigs."  Giganna took out a cigarette and lit it with her heat laser.  She stuck the smoldering butt in her mouth, apparently not caring that half of it had been incinerated and there was now a quarter-sized burn on the floor.

The Mantis Sisters would have reacted the same had it been anyone else really, but Giganna was a particularly daunting individual.  Something of a misfit, she certainly had the look and attitude to match, what with her wrap-around red sunglasses and unique hairstyle: hook-like sideburns and a wild mohawk that surrounded her row of horns.  Giganna wore a ragged leather jacket over her fuku, which was artfully torn here and there to further emphasize the punk look.  A rowdy girl with many vices, Giganna was the worst possible match for Megan as a companion.  Despite thator perhaps because of it--fate decided to make them roommates in the school's dormitory.

"I got some great new tapes from my...er, 'penpal' in Tihuana," the green and yellow kaiju-girl said with a grin.  "Some real hardcore stuff, ya know?  We can have a marathon all through the weekend.  We'll order pizza and I've got plenty of booze.  This is gonna be awesome!  Hee hee, I hope there's lots of blood!"

Obviously, this did not appeal to Megan anymore than hanging out with the Mantis Sisters.  "Oh, no, sorry.  I have, um, I already have plans..."

"Like what?" Giganna laughed.  "You know I'm your only friend!"

Once again, Megan found herself casting about for some outside salvation.  Titanna was digging around in her locker for something.  Crystal and Kumi were whispering to each other about something, then slunk out of sight, presumably to set a trap for GINA.  Mega-Lass, a sophomore, was apparently on her way home now that classes had ended.

"Aha!" Megan reached out and dragged the unsuspecting girl towards them.  "Mega-Lass asked me to tutor her," she lied.

"Tutor?" the shorter insect-kaiju echoed.  "I did?"

"Yes, of course you did!  You asked me this morning, remember?" Megan emphasized her point by getting a firm grip on Mega-Lass' wing, causing her to wince.

"Ow!  I mean, oh!  Right!  I remember now."

"Sorry, Giganna," Megan said, forcing a smile.  "Go ahead and start without me, bye!"

Megan proceeded to steer Mega-Lass down the hall and up to the second floor, leaving a dumbstruck Giganna staring after them with the cigarette hanging from her mouth.

Megan didn't want to risk getting cornered for a third time, so she kept her captive moving at a good clip and they quickly arrived at the library.  She ushered Mega-Lass inside, glanced around, then locked the door behind them.  Very few students used the library, especially after class on a weekend, so there was little threat of being found in there.

"Sorry for dragging you into this," Megan apologized.  "But I think we should hide in here for a while.  Giganna probably suspects I'm lying, but she'll KNOW I'm lying if she sees one of us wandering around alone."

"That's all right," Mega-Lass replied with a little smile.  "I understand."

The second floor library was a fair-sized room with computers on one side, rows upon rows of books on the other, and several tables between them.  The high ceiling sloped at a strange angle, making for an echo effect if someone talked too loud.  Naturally, this discouraged the slightly more promiscuous students from ducking in the library for a quickie.  The new library was in a separate building on campus, which had sound-proofed reading rooms much better suited for a secret get-together.

It was warm and humid outside, so the school's air-conditioning was cranked up.  With so few people in this big room, the library was very cold, so Megan and Mega-Lass decided to sit by the window.  Megan immediately took her entomology book back out and opened to the dog-eared page about wasp mating.  She was so absorbed in the material, she barely noticed the low squeal of metal-on-metal as Mega-Lass opened the window a bit.

A small white butterfly that was bumping against the outside of the window now found its way in and immediately fluttered over to rest on Mega-Lass' outstretched finger.  Megan blinked in surprise as the other girl appeared to be whispering to the butterfly.  She took off her glass and carefully rubbed her eyes.  Looking again, the butterfly was back outside and the window clicked shut.

"Wait... I saw... did you..." Megan stammered.  "What just happened?"

Mega-Lass regarded her innocently, as if nothing had happened.  "Pardon?"

"I could have sworn I just saw you talking to that butterfly."

"Oh, that," she replied, smiling.  "Insects can't really talk.  It's more like communicating information and emotions.  They can't converse in the abstract like this."  Mega-Lass paused, noticing the blank stare on the taller girl's face.  "What?  Can't you do that?"

"Uh, no.  I mean, I don't think so, I never tried.  What did you say to it?"

"I told her about a male butterfly I saw near a tree this morning.  She's looking for a mate," Mega-Lass added with a little grin.

"And did she say anything back?" Megan asked.

At this, Mega-Lass paused.  "Um... Like I said, insects don't talk like we do.  So it's kinda hard to translate back to our language.  Well, I guess I could just tell you what she told me."

Mega-Lass rose from her seat and walked around the table, then pulled out the chair so she could sit directly facing Megan.

"Would that work?" Megan wondered curiously.

"I think so.  You're an insect-type like me, so it might.  But I never tried it with another kaiju though, so I don't know for sure," the other girl admitted.  "Here, lean forward a bit.  I need to be near your antennae."

Mega-Lass reached out and gently ran her fingers along the taller girl's antennae.  A little tingle ran down Megan's spine and she blushed, but said nothing.  Mega-Lass leaned forward herself so their faces were within inches of each other and closed her eyes.  She started to murmur something, but there didn't seem to be any intelligible words.

At this range, Megan had an excellent view of the other girl's face.  Mega-Lass had sharp, small features that made her look very cute indeed.  Her skin was a pale lavender color, but a chitinous armor covered her arms, legs, and back.  Mega-Lass' wings were long and strong, more so than Megan's own, and a dangerous-looking thorax hung down behind her fuku-skirt.

Mega-Lass' soft murmuring became a droning buzz that filled Megan's ears and she started to feel very hot.  She also felt happy.  Really happy.  And a little horny.  Megan's head was swimming with delightful emotions and she knew she had to share them with somebody.

Before she could stop herself, Megan had leaned forward those few crucial inches and her lips met Mega-Lass'.  The other girl was soft and warm, tasting a bit like cherries.  Mega-Lass was caught by surprise, but soon leaned into the kiss, her slender hands coming up to cup Megan's cheeks.

Finally, the buzzing in Megan's ears faded away and she came back to her senses.  Acutely aware of her situation, Megan did the only thing that seemed natural.

"W-waaahh!!" she sputtered, breaking away and stumbling back into her chair.  "What the hell was that!?"

Mega-Lass frowned, clasping her hands together tightly.  "I'm sorry.  That...that was my fault.  I should have 'said' something else.  I got kind of carried away, I'm sorry..."

They were quiet for a long time after that.  Neither moved from her seat, just sitting in the embarrassed silence.  Megan eyed the shorter girl, but Mega-Lass would not meet her gaze.

Megan could still feel tingle of their embrace and she licked her lips self-consciously.  The tender moment was gone, but the memory remained vivid in her mind and it was an exhilarating sensation, like nothing Megan had ever felt before.  Even the erotic accounts of lurid mantid sex she kept hidden under her bed didn't give Megan this kind of feeling.  It was a scalding heat just beneath her skin, urging her to reach out, to ease that burning with the body of another.

"Is there someone you love?" Mega-Lass asked suddenly, breaking Megan's reverie.

"What do you mean?" she responded, a cautious note in her voice.

The shorter insect-kaiju fidgeted in her seat, looking down at her hands.  "Well, there's someone that I...care for greatly.  We met some time ago and I transferred to DaiKaiju so...so I could be nearer to that person.  I want to be...a part of their life, but...we're still so distant from each other." The girl sighed heavily, then turned to look directly at Megan with those intense crimson eyes.  "I sensed the same kind of feeling in you.  There's someone you care for that isn't within your reach."

"No, that's silly," Megan replied with a shaky laugh.  "I don't have anyone."  She sounded nonchalant enough, but there was a stinging in her eyes that made her turn away.

Delicate hands came up to her face and removed her glasses.  Megan spun, once again face to face with the other insect girl.

"You have really nice eyes," Mega-Lass said, her voice barely above a whisper.  She gazed longingly into Megan's eyes, sensing the emotions deep within those amber-hued orbs.  "For now...maybe we could..."

Her words trailed off as her lips met Megan's for the second time.  But this time, Megan was in full command of her faculties and she couldn't deny the pleasurable feeling of liquid warmth as Mega-Lass' tongue slipped into her mouth.  Her hands came up under Mega-Lass' shirt, carefully caressing the smooth lavender-colored skin of her stomach.

The shorter insect kaiju took this as an invitation and pressed against Megan, straddling the taller girl's lap.  Her long wasp-like tail separated Megan's legs and brushed against her inner thighs, eliciting a small gasp.  Mega-Lass' hands slid around behind the other girl's back, stroking the smooth outer shell that covered her wings.  Megan had never experienced this kind of love before was completely at the smaller girl's mercy.  Mega-Lass pulled away and broke the kiss to pull Megan's shirt off, causing the taller girl to blush.

Like many other students at this high school, it was difficult to find clothes that fit her unique kaiju attributes and thus didn't wear a bra.  Her chest fully exposed, Megan crossed her arms in embarrassment.  She shivered as her arms brushed over her nipples; they were rock hard from the library's cold air conditioning and the heat of her own arousal.  Gently, Mega-Lass pulled the other girl's arms apart and ran her hands over Megan's chocolate-hued skin.  Her fingers gingerly traced over a bruise on the inside of Megan's left breast and shame filled the taller girl's face.

"Giganna and I, we...we got a little drunk and...well," Megan stammered in a small voice.  She spread her metallic clawed hands in a helpless gesture; Mega-Lass noticed earlier that Giganna had the same sort of natural weapons.  "As you can see, neither of us have particularly nimble fingers.  There were a lot of scrapes and bruises to be found when the next hungover morning," she added with a frown.

Mega-Lass grinned knowingly, but said nothing.  She bowed her head and placed tender kisses along Megan's breasts.  The shorter insect girl was deliberately avoiding the nipples, much to Megan's chagrin.  She then leaned back and pulled off her own shirt.

Mega-Lass wasn't exactly what someone would call 'well-endowed', but her bosom was considerably more generous than Megan's, appearing even more so given her shorter stature.  Megan goggled at the perfectly-shaped breasts topped by little pink nipples that she longed to taste.  But even more eye-drawing were the tiny insect legs that stroked Mega-Lass' stomach.  They seemed to move with a mind of their own, caressing her torso sensuously.

Feeling bold, Megan pulled the shorter girl into a tight embrace.  As their naked breasts pressed together, the two girls' tongues danced passionately.  The thorax between Megan's legs began to undulate and the taller girl moaned as it rubbed her crotch.  She reached under Mega-Lass' skirt and gripped her butt, starting to grind against the insect limb.  She buried her face in Mega-Lass' bosom and the smooth lavender skin was a delight to touch.  Megan rubbed her cheeks between the soft breasts and bathed them with her tongue.  The shorter girl's tiny insect legs now attended to Megan, stroking her breasts and pinching the hard brown nipples.

Mega-Lass' body began to sway as if in a trance and the motion of her tail grew more intense.  Megan's breath came shorter as she gasped and her heart beat faster.  A hard red jewel on Mega-Lass' thorax was rubbing right against the taller girl's clitoris.  The moisture from Megan's womanhood had soaked through her panties, but all thought of decency was banished as she was taken by the sensations body and soul.  Megan desperately clung to the other girl as she approached the crest of orgasm.  At last, she was plunged into the depths of lust and was enveloped by carnal pleasure.  Megan tensed up and her orgasmic cries echoed throughout the cathedral-like library.

Mega-Lass cradled the head of her kaiju lover, stroking Megan's cobalt blue hair lovingly.  She taller girl had nearly collapsed and was totally spent.  Years of loneliness and repression were swept away in the wave of bliss and Megan now gasped like a fish out of water, trying to catch her breath.  She rested her head on Mega-Lass' chest, listening to the gentle ba-thump ba-thump of her heart.

"So...now what?" Megan asked softly.  "Do we just...go our separate ways?"

Mega-Lass let out a long sigh.  "Yes, for now.  You're not the one I seek, nor am I the one you need."  She climbed off Megan's lap and the two insect kaiju dressed in silence.  Mega-Lass could tell the taller girl was feeling despondent, so she came up and hugged Megan from behind.  "But I...wouldn't mind being 'tutored' again."

Megan blushed a deep scarlet.  "Then next time, I'll have a better lesson plan ready..."

Several minutes later, Megan entered the dormitory.  The walls seemed to be pretty thin, if the nigh-constant orgasmic shouting from Crystal and Kumi's room was any indicatiion, so she was forewarned that Giganna had the TV's volume too high.  When she crossed the threshold, her ears were accosted with the sounds of brutal beatings, breaking furniture, and Mexican swearing.  Giganna was sitting on the floor in her panties and a tank top, drinking heavily.  There was a stain on her shirt that smelled heavily of alcohol and antifreeze.

"You're going to kill brain cells like that," Megan chided after turning down the volume.

Giganna leveled a flat stare at her roommate, but her eyes couldn't want to focus.  "Why ssshhould ya car?" she countered, slurring drunkenly.

"Sorry for blowing you off earlier," the insect girl apologized.  She held up a pizza as a peace offering.  "Your favorite: pepperoni and anchovies with extra cheese."

"Hajid your tit-tut-ter...shtudying go?" Giganna asked, sounding a tad jealous in her inebriated state.  If she was upset, it didn't stop her from scarfing down a slice of pizza.

"Oh, it...went well," Megan replied evenly.  She tried to repress the memory for risk of becoming aroused at the thought of it.  She quietly sat next to Giganna and watched the 'wrestling.'  It mostly seemed to be some kind of soap opera with masked guys beating each other up in between shouting matches.  Frankly, Megan couldn't make heads or tails of it.

As the night wore on and the pizza disappeared, Giganna's foul mood seemed to pass.  She had taken to seizing Megan by the neck and pointing out various bits of extreme violence.  For example: "Whoa-oh!  Didja shee how hish head caveded in!?"  Megan would just smile and nod, glad that her roommate was feeling better.

By the time the bootleg tape had reached its end, Giganna had drunken herself into peaceful slumber, laying across Megan's lap.  The insect girl smiled and wrapped her fellow kaiju in a blanket, gently craddling her sleeping from.  Mega-Lass' words echoed in her mind: "Is there someone you love?"  She couldn't answer that right now, but Megan admitted that she felt happier now than she had in a long time.

Grabbing the remote, Megan turned off TV and the room was cast in darkness.
