A little bit of fanservice for the oft-neglected Hikari fanboys. This was done before I really got into the swing of drawing the K-Girls, so my grasp of the female form was still a little rough. Feh, here I am talking like it was so long ago. 9_9
A little bit of fanservice for the Kagemaru fangirls. I always thought vertical push-ups were the most badass thing a person could do. Goku does them with his thumbs! o_O And yes, ladies, Kagemaru is anatomically correct. ^_~
This isn't really a new pic; it's from issue #270. I don't have many stand-alone images of Hikari and I figured it makes a nice companion piece to Kagemaru mkII. I particularly like how the spear turned out.
This is from a project I undertook for my college animation class. A few notes about the design: His hair is far more complicated than the sprite version and is made of several dozen separate polygons linked together. He has no mouth under the scarf, since it wouldn't be shown. The scarf looks like a board now, but it animates like fabric once some wind is thrown in. His hands have only four fingers (counting the thumb); easier to animate and it matches the sprites.
Some random doodling I did of the Homeland story arc cast. Xuanzang looks nice and creepy and the robot masters turned out pretty good. This also includes my first sketch of Hikari, before I actually finalized her sprite design.
Kagemaru mkII; his new biomechanical form is definitely buffed out. I really like how the gradient coloring worked out in this one. He really does look shiney like the sprites. I went back to DBZ-style eyes, but the effect remains. The scarf was inspired by the remake of Shinobi for PS2.
An old piece I drew of the four principle characters during the Apprentice story arc. Despite being chibi-fied, they still look pretty cool and I like the perspective. Definitely need to CG this one.
This is, in truth, Kagemaru's second design, the one I ended up using in the comic. Awfully convenient that he dresses like Bass... ¬_¬ The eyes are the one thing on him that really stand out, as I wanted to do something different; dark and piercing. Kagemaru has a pretty good scowl. My friend Rob likes to call him Vegetabot because of the hair.
Two sides of the same man; a sort of comparison between Kagemaru (mkII) and Okashira (a.k.a. Kagemaru mkI). I admit that I may have made him overly muscular, but it still turned out pretty cool. With this piece, I'm still developing the new cel-style of coloring.
