Some of you may recognize the inspiration for this piece: The NekoKoneko graphic that appears often in Azumanga Daioh. I was looking for something to put on Guy-Ko Kim Odo's shirt in a new commission piece for Shin-Goji and this seemed appropriate.
Blackfire; Starfire's evil older sister. I could have drawn her in some provacative pose like the otherTT girls, but then again, I really missed doing action shots. While Starfire's costume isn't anything to write home about, the metal bands on Blackfire's variation look awesome. She comes off as a real bitch and this super-aggressive pose suits her well.
"WTF" doesn't really do justice to this piece. There's a long and ridiculous story behind this simple image, which is one of those "you had to be there" sort of things. But let me just say that my buddy Raul is the damn funniest person I've ever had the pleasure of being acquainted.
The other resident gothette of Teen Titans, Jinx got probably the biggest design change and if you ask me, she couldn't look better. The Moon is an actual one, stylized, with some kabuki-like cloud cover.
I'm not exactly a fan of Terra, but she's a really interesting character and her interaction brought out something cool from Beast Boy. Had their relationship been allowed to progress, I dare say this scene wouldn't be so far-fetched.
...
Heh. Far-fetched. He's a dog. Get it? XD
In summary: Cartoon Starfire wearing the costume of Comic Book Starfire. Impractical? Yes. Great fanservice? Damn straight. I regret only that the original sketch had some nice detail work that didn't translate well to the cartoon's visual style.
Raven from Teen Titans. Honestly, I drew this one before I gave much thought into what I was doing. It quickly spawned several other TT-gal cheesecake pictures. Aside from the fact that Raven is a total goth hottie, this proved to be excellent practice for traditional cel-style coloring.
My first ever commissioned work! The FYE (For Your Entertainment) in my local mall has a game room and their Dance Dance Revolution machine became popular enough to start a bemani club (bemani being the Japanese word for these kind of video games). The club has since expired with the passing of the fad, but designing their tee-shirt netted me a fair paycheck. This is also the first use of gradient-style coloring, which I like for it's simplicity.
Strike Fiss, Jolt-addict and author extraordinaire of Studio Shinnyo. I had fun making this pic, though the experiment in using the Burn Tool for shading didn't turn out the way I'd hoped it would. For such an old pic, it still looks alright.
A collage of characters, prominantly featuring Val Reinhart (see the BnW Gallery) in a story known as Wasteland. Think of it as kind of like Kenpuu Denki Berserk, though this predates that particular fandom of mine. This is quite possibly my very first computer colored art piece. It might look kind of funky, since it was done on a Mac and I've had to touch it up for PC. The blood was a real challenge.
CRASH! Shin versus Son: The Vegeance Seal Breaks! A rare two-part piece of gift art for Twisted Kaiju Theater, commemorating my second guest appearance, involving a major plot point. Granted, we're well past the completion of that story arc, but better late than never, right? The coloring method is surprisingly simple considering how long it took me to get started.
Well, Teen Titans is over. If you caught the last episode, you'll understand what I mean when I say it ended at the worst possible moment. There was so much more that could have been done, but considering my sort of ideas, it wouldn't remain in the 8-14 demographic for much longer. Anyway, here's my take on a cartoon Ravager. His costume design draws more from the comic's Ravager IV, who was sister to the original character. This pic is made up to resemble the official model sheets.
